Behind the Scenes Q1 2022

Waypoint Team

Q1 was another busy quarter for Waypoint Wealth Partners. Bringing in the new year we welcomed our newest team member, Lindsay Pearson and she is our new Client Services and Operations Associate. We are so excited to have Lindsay onboard, she is a great addition to our growing team.

The WWP Team also gathered at the Oakland Ice Rink in March, where we took a Team Curling Lesson. This was everyone’s first time curling and we can report that every person had a blast. Following the Ice Rink, we gathered at a local restaurant for some delicious food and drinks.

Chuck

The first few months of 2022 found Chuck skiing in Utah with his son CJ, celebrating his mom Judy’s 80th birthday, and checking out March madness with his colleague Chad in San Francisco!

Annette

Annette spent most of her weekends in Q1 doing long hikes to prepare for her big trip to Patagonia in April. There was a back injury along the way but by the time she took off, she was ready to go! “Patagonia is a spectacular place, so wild and unspoiled, you can even drink the glacial water directly from streams and waterfalls! We hiked 10-15 miles a day, the first 5 days were on the Chilean side doing a point to point trek to Torres del Paine and the next 4 days were in El Chalten, Argentina exploring Glacier National Park and hiking to the lakes at the base of Mount Fitz Roy and Cerro Torre. It was such a gift to be out in the big, wide, beautiful world, undistracted, and able to take it all in. I’m grateful to have such a strong and dedicated team supporting me, that’s the only way I could do it.”

Courtney

Courtney and her family started the year off with a trip to Bodega Bay! They had a fun and relaxing time in the beautiful coastal town, hiking, going to the beach and seeing the local wildlife.  February and March were filled with fun local activities from waterfall hikes to exploring Chrissy Field and a Marina walk to the Golden Gate Bridge.

——

Rania

In January, Rania visited her aunt on the Big Island of Hawaii. While there she enjoyed tasting the local tropical fruits that are native to the island, watching the turtles sunning themselves, and visiting a local coffee farm. By far her favorite activity was hiking the beautiful Pololu Valley trail that combined the volcanic coastline with mountains and a lake. The beauty was stunning. She is looking forward to when she can return and spend more time with her family and explore more of what the island has to offer.

Dariusz

Dariusz has begun 2022 as usual, skiing! He spent the holidays in Colorado and a lot of the time in Vail skiing the legendary back bowls. He is taking his love of skiing to the next level by starting to backcountry ski. Dariusz completed his first backcountry tour during the last weekend of January and climbed to the top of Waterhouse trail just south of Lake Tahoe.  Left is a picture from Gunbarrel at Heavenly, right is at the top of Waterhouse.

Jill

Q1 brought lots of moments to celebrate and gather. Caroline and I took flight to the city of brotherly love where she will be attending law school next year. This forward-looking trip preceded a much-anticipated trip back in time to New Orleans to celebrate her 2020 Covid-delayed graduation from Tulane. With 3 generations of Carothers cheering her on, Caroline at last crossed the stage in person to accept her diploma! Bonus moments included the Crawfest music festival, world class dining and a visit with Jesse and Matthias in their beautiful new home. Drew came home for a visit and we connected with lifelong friends from Marin and new friends from the Philippines to enjoy a bit of Bay Area paradise in Napa.

——

Avelina

Avelina and Tyler rescued a 2-year-old Pitbull from the Stockton Animal Shelter in January and named him Chunk. He is the newest addition to their family and is fitting in great with their Siamese cat Penelope. “I was so happy that we were able to rescue Chunk and give him a home, he is such a sweet dog. I’m looking forward to all the memories we will make.” She also enjoyed a nice hike at the Cosumnes River Preserve with a close friend from San Francisco. As the weather got warmer, Avelina got outside to try Sacramento’s Rail Bikes which are electric bikes on railroad track that take you on a 5-mile tour through beautiful pastures and farmland. “The experience was so much fun! I’d definitely do it again.”

——

Jesse

Spring in New Orleans means Mardi Gras for Jesse! She and Matthias have built up a great costume closet and enjoyed sharing them with all the friends and family who came to town. As the first Mardi Gras since the beginning of COVID, the city went all out and the parades were spectacular. Spring is also crawfish season, and they’ve been going to many backyard boils. Sometimes Matthias will bake “king cake cinnamon rolls” to take for dessert!

——

Lindsay

Lindsay had the opportunity to spend Christmas and New Years with her family in Costa Rica. They spent a few days in the rainforests of Mirador where they went ziplining (a terrifyingly amazing experience for Lindsay!) and saw some stunning wildlife. Then they headed to the oceanside where they lounged by the pool and went horseback riding in Puerto Viejo. The local cuisine was incredible and the views were spectacular!

Becca

Becca started off Q1 with a trip to Colorado to see friends, family, and meet her new nephew Ryden. She enjoyed spending quality time with loved ones and exploring local spots in the area. She celebrated her birthday at a martini bar in downtown Fort Collins. Becca spent the rest of the quarter outside hiking with her husband and friends. “Considering I grew up in upstate New York, I’ve come to really appreciate winter in San Francisco. I love to get outside and enjoy how lush and green everything is during the winter months.”
