What do you enjoy most about your role as a Wealth Manager?

I love that my work has a real impact on the financial and emotional lives of our clients. Financial issues often extend beyond ourselves, from caring for parents to launching kids into the real world. It can be a huge distraction from our lives. If I can take some of the burden and stress off of a client’s shoulders, I feel hugely fulfilled and accomplished that my work is helping others.

What makes you proud to be a part of the Waypoint team?

I’m proud of the level of attention and care we give to each client.  We’re motivated to understand each client deeply, not to have as many clients as possible. This builds a level of trust and communication that means our clients reach out to us for help with anything related to their finances, even helping them to vet job offers or consider career changes.

What personal accomplishment are you most proud of?

My family, which includes my wife, Leslie, and two young daughters, Sairsha and Maeve. I know it’s cliché. Leslie and I are high school sweethearts and over the years we’ve made it through lean times, health scares, and we’re still looking forward to everything life brings us.

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?

A middle school teacher taught our class about mindfulness. Her advice was to always take time out of the day to just be still and pay attention to what’s going on outside of the thoughts in your head. I’m sure her motivation was to help a bunch of newly minted adolescents overcome the overwhelming feelings of the teenage years, but her instruction sparked a practice that I’ve continued over the years.

What do you love to do outside of work?

When it comes to staying physically active, I enjoy spinning, yoga, running and hiking. During February and March of each year and during the Rugby World Cup, you’ll find me cheering loudly for the Irish team (COYBIG!) at Kezar in San Francisco. Otherwise, my time off is filled with exploring the Bay Area with the family and helping to further the cause of the Ella Baker Center for Human Rights.
